Poisson Variables

چکیده
A Poisson process is one in which events are randomly distributed in time, space or some other variable with the number of events in any non-overlapping intervals statistically independent. For example, naturally occurring gamma rays detected in a scintillation detector are randomly distributed in time, or chocolate chips in a cookie dough are randomly distributed in volume. For simplicity, we will limit our discussion to events randomly distributed in time. A homogeneous Poisson process is one in which the long-term average event rate is constant. The average rate will be denoted Γ and in any interval ∆t the expected number of events is

On the bounds in Poisson approximation for independent geometric distributed random variables
The main purpose of this note is to establish some bounds in Poisson approximation for row-wise arrays of independent geometric distributed random variables using the operator method. Some results related to random sums of independent geometric distributed random variables are also investigated.
متن کاملCharacterizations of Multivariate Normal-Poisson Model
‎Multivariate normal-Poisson model has been recently introduced as a special case of normal stable Tweedie models‎. ‎The model is composed of a univariate Poisson variable‎, ‎and the remaining variables given the Poisson one are independent Gaussian variables with variance the value of the Poisson component‎. ‎Two characterizations of this model are shown‎, ‎...
متن کاملModel Selection for Poisson Regression via Association Rules Analysis
This study integrates association rules analysis, a methodology for selecting potential interactions, with Poisson regression modeling. Though typically ignored in conventional Poisson regression, interactions are very common in practice. However, selecting a Poisson regression model when many main effects and interactions are involved is problematic. In this study, we develop a model selection...

Background Polycystic ovary syndrome is a frequent condition in women of reproductive age with prevalence rate of 5-10%. This study purposed to determine the relationship between polycystic ovary syndrome and the outcome of assisted reproductive treatment (ART) cycle in Tehran, Iran. MaterialsAndMethods In this historical cohort study, 996 infertile women who were referred to Royan Institute (T...
متن کاملAction-Angle Variables for the Gel’fand-Dikii Flows
Using the scattering transform for n order linear scalar operators, the Poisson bracket found by Gel’fand and Dikii, which generalizes the Gardner Poisson bracket for the KdV hierarchy, is computed on the scattering side. Action-angle variables are then constructed. Using this, complete integrability is demonstrated in the strong sense. Real action-angle variables are constructed in the self-ad...

Stein's method is used to prove approximations in total variation to the distributions of integer valued random variables by (possibly signed) compound Poisson measures. For sums of independent random variables, the results obtained are very explicit, and improve upon earlier work of Kruopis (1983) and Cekanavicius (1997); coupling methods are used to derive concrete expressions for the error b...
